We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child/children/youth to the AWANA Club ministry at Bethel Baptist Church.
The name AWANA is an acrostic which stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” and is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. The AWANA Club program is specifically designed to help your child be that “Approved Workman”, a young student who works at understanding and applying scriptural principals in everyday life, while having a great time! It is a time when children have keen memories and are eager to “input” their minds with knowledge!
Thus, it only makes sense that we capitalize on these years to see that God’s Word is being hidden securely in their hearts and minds. Each clubber is very special to us and to God! Each week, your child will be eligible to receive points or “AWANA Bucks” during club. We will keep track of how many “AWANA Bucks” each child earns, and every 5 weeks we will open the AWANA store and allow each child to “spend” their bucks on real toys, games, candy, etc. The AWANA store nights are noted on your Schedule/ Calendar. Please use this teaching opportunity to encourage them to save up for items they really want, or maybe even share with others when they’re able. Here are a list of ways your child can earn AWANA bucks:
Attending AWANA Wearing their uniform (t-shirt)* (see note below) Bringing their Bible - (If you are unable to provide your child with a Bible, we will gladly meet the need.) Bringing their AWANA handbook Attending church the previous Sunday (any church) Bringing an offering Bringing a friend/ first time guest Good sportsmanship in game time (cheering on teammates, etc.) Outstanding behavior
*Please note—your child will be eligible to get a “uniform” (t-shirt) once they have completed their entire entrance booklet. T-shirts are FREE! Each child will move through their entrance booklets/ handbooks at their own pace. Encouragement from parents, as well as helping your child practice reciting scripture throughout the week is deeply encouraged!!
We would like to remind you that AWANA will meet every Wednesday from 5:30- 8:00pm during the school year, unless otherwise specified on the AWANA Calendar. The children will eat supper from 5:30- 6:00pm in the Family Life Center. We ask for your patience as we get the new year started. We will do our best to ensure that the drop-off/ pick-up process runs as smoothly as possible.
